OK, we haven’t been to every city in the world, but Barcelona is definitely our favorite so far (sorry Paris, you come in a close 2nd).
You name it, and Barcelona’s got it: history, architecture, culture, art, food, shopping, nightlife, public transportation, parks, beaches, great weather…
And it’s affordable!
All of our traveling so far has been a great adventure, but now, for the first time this entire trip, it feels like we are truly on vacation. Our smiles and tans in the Barcelona photo galleries are proof, but if you still need convincing, check out the 10 day forecast.
We were supposed to be moving to the next destination on July 10, but the idea of leaving so soon made us very sad. We’re trying to find another apartment so we can stay another 4-6 weeks (our current apartment is already booked).
If you are planning a trip to Europe, make sure you schedule a stop here.
Feel free to plead your case for world’s best city in the comments below.

I’d have to argue with you on this one and say that London is the best city in the world bc of “ye ole cheshire cheese”.
Hey Justin and Gemma!
Justin, I am old pals (and hairdresser of) your mom and dad and have been hearing about your travels all along. I too am a big fan of Barcelona and returned from there April 1, 2007. My traveling partner and I stayed in a little town 1 hr north of the city called Loret de Mar. We stayed there for 2 weeks and used it as our home base. This whole area is lovely and we were able to bus into the city to sight see, and soak up the culture. We stayed right on the Med and found Loret and surrounding towns really cool. We especially loved Tosa with it’s Roman ruins, Blanes has a fabulous garden area that you can spend the day and picnic, and we were able to get from there (Loret) to Figures where Dali Museum is located……..a must see!! Maybe you can go up there and have a look around. It’s verrrry laid back and has great history and scenery. Keep me posted and I’ll be checking into your website every now and again. Be safe!!! I’ve been to BCN and fell in love with it … … sigh … I want to go back ;-)
Hi kids,
Again, so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I just checked into your website and the pix are wonderful and made me feel sad that I wasn’t there. Funny how I was in the same place as you, looking at the same things, yet your pictures look way better than mine. I can’t wait until we get the pix from Sagrada Familia. I hope that you are able to go back and continue your trip……….and visit Loret de Mar, Tosa and the Dali museum in Figures……..you’ll get some great pictures there for sure!
Travel safe,
Toni
