Eze (about 7 miles East of Nice) is a medieval village perched like an eagle’s nest on a narrow rocky peak overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The ancient village is still crowned with the ruins of its 12th-century fortified castle (torn down in 1706). It is filled with narrow roads, archways, restored stone houses, ancient fountains, and numerous arts & crafts boutiques, some of which are like tiny caves dug out of the rocky hillside.
