The building of Karlskirche, at Karlsplatz, was started in 1715 following plans of one of the most famous Austrian Baroque architects, Johann Fischer von Erlach. It is the biggest cathedral in Baroque style north of the Alps.

Burggarten, Vienna
The Burggarten was constructed in 1819 by Ludwig v. Remy and Franz Antoine. In 1901 the “butterfly house” was constructed in the Burggarten, with hundreds of free-flying tropical butterflies.
